Many preconditioners have been proposed in solving structured systems in recent years. In this talk, we discuss some of them which are proven to be efficient in practice. They are: Strang’s circulant preconditioner, the optimal preconditioner, the superoptimal preconditioner, and the multilevel preconditioner. Several computational and mathematical properties of those preconditioners are discussed.
