The Diophantine equation x^2+y^2=n is a historic and fruitful topic.This talk will mainly concentrate on counting the number of integral solutions of this equation.Two differently originated methods will be introduced and the connection between L-series and this old problem will be explicitly displayed. Some generalization will also be discussed.
