Abstract |
The backward induction algorithm in perfect information games – which inter alia forms the basis for computer chess – has been the subject of considerable controversy in the past quarter-century. Here we describe and illustrate the algorithm, discuss the conceptual difficulties, report on how the literature has dealt with them, and then present a new approach, due to the speaker and Dr. ItaiArieli. |
