Abstract	The goal of this talk is to introduce the BSD conjecture, with an emphasis over function fields. We will also mention its relation to the Tate-Shafarevich group and the Tate conjecture over finite fields. Then we will introduce some known results about them.
Affiliation	袁新意，2008年博士毕业于哥伦比亚大学，师从张寿武教授，现任加州大学伯克利分校副教授。2000年国际数学奥林匹克金牌获得者，2008年博士毕业时获美国克雷研究所研究奖，成为第一位荣获该奖的华人。主要研究领域是数论，2015年他与合作者完成了“数学四重奏”的华美乐章，将数论与几何统一在一起，实现了一个历史性的突破，引起了数学界的极大兴奋与关注。
