Li-yeng Sung is a professor at the Department of Mathematics of Louisiana State University, where he also an adjunct Professor at the Center for Computation & Technology. His research areas include differential equations, integrable systems (inverse scattering), numerical partial differential equations (multigrid methods and domain decomposition methods), variational inequalities.
Dr. Sung got his B.S. from Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1976 and M.S. in 1978. He obtained Ph.D. from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1983. Before he came to LSU, He was a professor at University of South Carolina 2006-2007, Associate Professor at University of South Carolina 1993-2006, Assistant Professor, Clarkson University, 1987-1993, Assistant Professor (Post-doc), The University of Michigan, 1983-1987.
He visited Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics, Bonn, Germany in 2017, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, in 2013, Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, Minneapolis, 2010-2010, LSEC, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, PRC in 2009, Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin, Germany, 2008. He was also the New Directions Research Professor, Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications, Minneapolis, 2010-2011 and EPSRC Visiting Fellow, Imperial College, UK 2001. |
