| Abstract |
Convex optimization has emerged as useful tool for applications that include data analysis and model fitting, machine learning and statistics, resource allocation, engineering design, network design and optimization, finance, and control and signal processing. We give an overview of the basic mathematics, algorithms, and software frameworks for convex optimization, and give a few examples. We describe real-time embedded convex optimization, in which small convex optimization problems are solved repeatedly in time frames measured in milliseconds. |

Stephen P. Boyd
教授是斯坦福“三星”冠名教授，同时还担任计算与数学工程研究所教授。1980年他在哈佛大学获得数学学士学位，1985年在加州伯克利大学获电子工程与计算机科学博士。博士毕业后加盟斯坦福大学。Boyd教授主要从事凸优化在控制、信号处理、机器学习和金融等领域的应用研究，其研究成果在学术界和工业界均产生了深远影响。
Stephen P. Boyd
教授还是多项开源工具的开发者，包括CVX、CVXPY、Convex.jl、Madeleine Udell等，这些工具在凸优化问题的求解中被广泛应用。他的CVXGEN软件在SpaceX猎鹰9号着陆系统等关键技术中发挥了重要作用。Boyd教授的学术成就得到了广泛认可，他曾获得包括ONR青年研究者奖、Donald P. Eckman奖、Michael Young Investigator奖、Beale-Orchard-Hays奖在内的多项荣誉，并在2023年荣获ACC Richard E.
